Fairfield Glade Ladies Club

The Fairfield Glade Ladies Club is a service organization committed to helping those in need in Cumberland County. From September to June, members actively organize and carry-out fundraising activities and typically raise in excess of $50,000. Fundraising is supplemented by the annual dues each member pays and local business sponsorships. There are currently over 550 members of the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club. All are residents or property owners in Fairfield Glade.

Cash and in-kind donations are made at monthly meetings by members directly to the ‘Service Project of the Month.’ Monthly meetings are held September to June. Monies raised by the Club fundraising projects and business sponsorships are dispersed at fiscal year-end to Cumberland County residents who meet all the criteria of the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club Pam Biggs Scholarship Award and to tax-exempt organizations serving Cumberland County.

The Fairfield Glade Ladies Club scholarship program was initiated in 1977 with 2 awards totaling $600. In every year since 1977 the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club has continued to award scholarships to young women and men to pursue a college degree at an accredited college or university. In the current 2014-2015 academic year there are 12 students receiving awards in a total amount of $20,000.

The Fairfield Glade Ladies Club Scholarship was re-named in 2012 to honor the memory of Pam Biggs. Pam was a dedicated and hard-working member of the Club, serving on many committees and coordinating events. She continued to fulfill her volunteer efforts in spite of battling a terminal illness, showing great fortitude and commitment. She was an inspiration to each life she touched, and the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club honored her spirit and teamwork by re-naming the scholarship the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club Pam Biggs Scholarship Award.

From 1977 to present, 270 scholarships have been awarded in the amount of $291,050. In the past, our scholarships were awarded to graduating high school seniors; however, recent changes in state law, such as TN Promise scholarships for high school students, has caused us to shift our focus in the past year to the student who has been out of high school at least 2 years. We are excited to partner with the Roane State Foundation to help us identify these adult, non-traditional students. Since this partnership began in 2014, we have awarded more

The members of the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club are very committed to the continuation of our scholarship program for the adult student who often doesn’t qualify for many of the awards available to high school seniors. Moreover, we have found that the adult student faces unique challenges. We take a great deal of pride in our ability to help these students overcome all obstacles to their continued education and making a better life for themselves and their families.
