Ron and Dale Hensley

Ron and Dale Hensley established the Mothers’ Helping Hand Scholarship in 1999 to offer a helping hand to working mothers who have returned to school to complete their educations in order to better support their families. The wonderful generosity of the Hensleys has allowed working mothers to continue their education for many years and will continue for many future generations. The Roane State Foundation is proud to offer two scholarships annually, one for a full-time student and one for a part-time who meet the following requirements:

 * Two scholarships will be awarded each year. One for a full-time (12 hours minimum) and one for a for part-time (6 hours minimum) student at Roane State Community College.
 * Recipients must be female, single parents.
 * Recipients must be employed either full or part-time.
 * Full time Scholarship will be renewable for a second year if all other requirements are met; part-time scholarship will be awarded for 8 semesters if all other requirements are met.
 * Recipients must exhibit academic promise (maintain at least a 2.5 GPA).
 * Recipients must write an essay stating goals and ambitions, etc. to be included in their scholarship applications.
 * Recipient must write a thank you letter to the donor.
