John and Mildred Dillon Scholarship Endowment

The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarships to Roane State Community College students in accordance with the following criteria:
a) In addition: Recipient(s) must meet the Foundation’s scholarship eligibility criteria requirements indicated below:
i) Enroll full-time (at least 12.0 credit hours) or part-time (at least 6.0 credit hours) in a degree or certificate program at Roane State Community College.
ii) Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), TN Promise/TN Reconnect/TN Dual Enrollment or Middle College Scholarship applications, as applicable.
iii) Complete any Roane State Community College requirements related to scholarships or other financial aid (i.e. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) release form);
iv) Recipient(s) must be in good standing with the college.
v) Maintain a minimum of 2.5 GPA for scholarship renewal while a student at RSCC, unless otherwise indicated in the below criteria.
vi) Students must reapply each year for this consideration.
vii) Submit a thank-you letter and photograph of yourself for Foundation donor(s) which can be used in College or Foundation social media, website, events or other marketing/promotional efforts and materials.
viii) These items should be submitted via the Foundation Office as directed in Scholarship guidelines within 10 days of Foundation’s electronic award notification and your acceptance of an award.

b) Recipient(s) must meet the additional eligibility criteria requirements indicated below:

  • Recipients must be an incoming freshman at RSCC.
  • Recipients must have at least a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA.
  • Recipients must exhibit a high level of academic achievement, community service and school leadership skills.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with proven financial need.
  • Recipients must be willing to submit a thank you letter to the donor.
  • Two recipients, one male and one female, will be chosen each year from Central High School; one alternating scholarship will be awarded each year to a student from Coalfield, Sunbright, or Oakdale High School (this scholarship will be half the value of the scholarship awarded to Central High School students.

c) Recipient is to submit a thank-you letter and photograph for Foundation donor(s) which can be used in College or Foundation social media, website, events or other marketing/promotional efforts and materials within 10 days of Foundation’s electronic award notification and acceptance of an award, addressing the letter of appreciation to:
